A UI Redesign Case Study

Spiritual formation is meant to be shared, yet the shared Bible reading feature in YouVersion often falls short—tracking gaps and unclear signals disrupt participation and make engagement confusing. As a user, I experienced these gaps firsthand and set out to rethink the interface, restoring intention and creating a more meaningful experience for others.

Through user research, heuristic evaluation, and flow analysis, I identified pain points and mapped the broken user journey. I proposed and iteratively refined design solutions to realign the interface with its original purpose—connecting users spiritually. My hypotheses focused on improving activity visibility, clarifying engagement states, and embedding structured reflection. Interaction patterns and visual cues were redesigned to communicate presence, progress, and shared accountability, with the intention that these recommendations could guide development toward a more cohesive experience.

The result is an evolving, user-centered vision for a communal rhythm of Scripture reading—where participants can pause, reflect, and grow together—transforming a fragmented experience into one that nurtures trust, connection, and shared spiritual formation.
